TOMMY BRUCE BOOK

BOOK REPRINTED DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND!

Written by his former manager Dave Lodge, "Have Gravel will Travel" the official Tommy Bruce biography has due to popular demand has been reprinted and available from Amazon or from the author.

The Official Tommy Bruce Biography
The amazing story of how a young cockney lad went from ‘barra boy’ to a teen singing idol. A unique insight into the 1960’s rock ‘n’ roll scene when Tommy Bruce and contemporaries such as Billy Fury, Johnny Kidd and Joe Brown were doing the rounds together. In this fickle world of show business many friendships don’t stand the test of time. Not so that of Tommy Bruce and Dave Lodge, his manager, friend and author of this biography. We see how their partnership has endured since the 1960’s unhampered by contracts, surviving on friendship through the highs and lows. The book is a testimony to Tommy’s affable style both on and off stage making him a well-loved character in the industry for the past five decades.

ELKIE BROOKS LEGEND

Another great night at Theatre Severn Shrewsbury seeing the legend that is Elkie Brooks.
She has been telling us for 38 years that Pearl's A Singer but then so is Elkie mixing jazz, blues, rock in an energetic performance that was a raw as one could get - no big stage sets, no major lighting effects, not even an introduction as she took to the stage and belted out number upon number acknowledging the almost sell out audience.
Celebrating her 70th birthday during this tour, like a bottle of fine wine (lilac or otherwise) Elkie gets better with age.

STATUE FOR EPPY CONCERT

'Statue 4 Eppy' gig @The Epstein Theatre on Saturday 28th February.

The Shakers are delighted to be featured as the 'Cavern' group for the first half of this fab show. They will be backing various Merseybeat legends as they celebrate 'The Spirit Of The Cavern'. As anyone who has seen them knows, they cover most of Epstein's artists in their regular sets at the Cavern, including Cilla!

wink emoticon Here's what the press has to say about the show - 'The line-up for the Feb. 28 concert is to help raise money in the Statue 4 Eppy campaign to erect a statue for Beatles manager Brian Epstein in Liverpool. The show will be hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Billy Butler and will feature a line-up to celebrate the life and career of ‘Fifth Beatle’ Brian Epstein.
One part of the concert will feature musicians and performers from the Mersey Beat era denoting “The Spirit of The Cavern.” These will include Cy Tucker, Faron of Faron's Flamingos, Beryl Marsden, Ray Ennis, Karl Terry, Billy Kinsley and Tony Crane, who will pay tribute to the music that was featured on the famous Cavern stage during Brian Epstein's life.
Tucker's band, Cy and the Cimmerons, played at the Litherland Town Hall in Liverpool on Dec. 27, 1960 on a bill with the Beatles, who were described as “Direct From Hamburg.” Billy Kinsley and Tony Crane were in the Merseybeats. Ray Ennis was vocalist and lead guitarist with the Swinging Blue Jeans. Karl Terry was a member of Karl Terry and the Cruisers. And Beryl Marsden toured with the Beatles on their last UK tour in 1964'.

ELO EXPERIENCE THEATRE SEVERN

Tonight 24th Jan - I went to Theatre Severn Shrewsbury and bumped into "Horace Wimp" a "Wild West Hero" who was having a "Showdown" on the "Telephone Line" with an "Evil Woman" from "Xanadu" who had caught the "Last Train To London" to see a "Sweet Talkin' Woman" who welcomed me as "Mr Blue Sky" after telling her dog to "Roll Over Beethoven". We sorted out a few "Livin' Things".

Yes if you recall the above song titles I went to see ELO Experience a tribute to a great band from 1970s - Electric Light Orchestra.

Tonigh's show featured a great band of musicians including a glamorous three piece string section, fantastic lighting effects and video projection.

This was a fantastic start to the new season at Theatre Severn following pantomime and was rewarded with a sell out audience. I look forward to many more great shows in this fantastic venue.
