FORT PERCH ROCK

Fort Perch Rock is a fort built pre Napoleonic Wars along the promenade at New Brighton on the Wirral, and served to defend Merseyside through two World Wars.

This Grade 2 listed building now houses some great exhibitions including - "Elvis meets The Beatles" although it now has memorabilia from many other Merseybeat artistes.

Major displays in the room include ones on Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Billy Fury, Rory Storm, The Spinners along with such other noteable acts from Merseyside including - The Remo 4, The Searchers, Karl Denver, The Undertakers, Faron's Flamingoes, The Swinging Blue Jeans, Clayton Squares, The Black Abbotts, The Delrenas, Berni Flint, The Fourmost, Vince Earl, The Mojos, The Merseybeats and The scaffold to name but a few.

The displays are made up of archive photographs, press cuttings, tickets, posters, magazines, books, sheet music, acetate records and much more.

 Every month there is a regular Sunday Afternoon Mersey Beat session with interviews with some of the areas leading musicians and personalities, live music, nostalgia quizzes, and memorabilia stalls. Also at regular times throughout the year there are concerts by a variety of acts over the years including - James Burton, Albert Lee, Chas McDevitt, Linda Gail Lewis and many others.
